Malaysian Curry : Grilled Crab


Ingredients A

  • 1½ kg coral crab
  • 1 cucumber (cubes)
  • 1 big onion (cubes)

Ingredients B

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 6 shallots
  • 3 stalks lemongrass
  • ½ inch turmeric

Ingredients C

  • 5 shallots
  • 5 chili padi
  • 2 red chili

Seasonings

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon thick soy sauce
  • ½ cup lime juice


Method for Cooking Grilled Crab:

  1. Grind Ingredients B. Rinse crab and cut into big pieces, mix in Ingredients B and 1 tablespoon sugar, marinate for 1 hour.
  2. Dice Ingredients C, add in 1 tablespoon sugar, some salt, 1 teaspoon thick soy sauce and ½ cup of lime juice. Mix together.
  3. Grill crab in oven until both sides are cooked.
  4. Remove the crab and serve with the mixture of Ingredients C, cucumber and big onion.

Tip:

You may replace coral crab with fleshy crab or roe crab.
