Indonesian Curry : Javanese Sweet and Spicy Beef


Ingredients A (cut into pieces)

  • 500g topside beef
  • 400g potatoes
  • 150g carrots
  • 1½ cups water

Ingredients B

  • 5 tablespoons Indonesian curry paste
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick

Ingredients C

  • 200ml thick coconut milk
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste


Method for Cooking Javanese Sweet and Spicy Beef:

  1. Mix Ingredients A and B in pot, simmer until meat and potatoes become tender.
  2. Stir in Ingredients C, bring to boil. Remove and serve.

Tip:

You can replace beef with mutton.
